The Blood Bank Section is one of the major sections of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. It shall be responsible for the performance of diagnostic laboratory procedures that would ensure safe blood transfusion, investigate any cross matching incompatibilities and transfusion reactions, screen for any bacterial contamination of blood and or transfusion transmitted infections. The section is open twenty four hours a day, seven days a week to ensure continuous supply of blood when and where needed. It is manned by competent and skilled staff who pursue training programs related to the same.
