Admitting Procedure

The Admissions Office is focused on providing the best service possible to the Hospital’s stakeholders. It aims to respond rationally &  systematically to the Hospital’s requirements for admission of patients through an efficient and effective management policies, procedures, systems, and control. Further, it aims to meet the Hospital’s expectation for on-time admission of patients through a systematic and accurate process that can contribute positively to the Hospital’s quality policy, to wit:

SHMC is committed to “total customer satisfaction” by providing efficient, effective, accurate and timely delivery of quality healthcare, diagnostic and therapeutic services through continual improvement process.

STANDARD PROCEDURES:

The ADMISSIONS STAFF:

Circle_Green  Interviews the patient/patient’s relative and enters accurate data on the patient’s background, such as correct spelling of the name, birthday, birthplace, address, contract numbers and religion, responsible party for the account;

Circle_Green  Presents the available rooms, including the amenities and rates;

Circle_Green  Inquires if patient is covered by PhilHealth or HMO and notes if patients is a private patient (with known attending physician) or walk-in patient (decked to walk-in consultant):

Circle_Green  Informs the nurse’s station concerned, of the admission and the room number;

Circle_Green  Issues the television remote control and advises relative to pay deposit of P500.00 which is deductible from hospital bill upon return of remote control on day of discharge (except if the patient is for admission to the ICU)

> The ER Nurse inquires what room the patient will be admitted and notifies the nurse’s station concerned, about what to prepare.

> The nurse’s station concerned prepares the patient’s room and advises the ER nurses and admitting clerk when it is ready for the patient to be taken up to the room.

> It is only after proper coordination between the ER Nurse and the Ward Nurse that the patient is taken up to the room per wheelchair/stretcher, accompanied by the ER nursing assistant.

> If patient is for admission to the ICU, there must be proper endorsement and coordination between the ER Nurse and Ward Nurse and between the ER ROD and Ward ROD before the patient is transferred to the ICU, accompanied by the ER Nurse, ER nursing assistant, and ER or Ward ROD.

>  Staff nurse/ NOD must inform admissions Office of patient transfer room to ICU and must instruct patients’ relatives to proceed to Admissions Office for further details & classification.

>  On the day of discharge, the patient’s relative must return the television remote control to the Admissions Office so that the deposit will be refunded (if patient’s hospitalization is covered by HMO) or deducted from the hospital bills (If hospitalization is charged to a personal account).
