Heart Station
The Heart Station of Sacred Heart Medical Center is fully equipped with diagnostic equipment necessary for a thorough non-invasive cardiac evaluation of a patient.
The Heart Station provides care and service of the highest quality to adult, pediatric and patient with known or suspected heart disease/disorder. It offers advanced facilities for specialized procedures necessary in the diagnosis of patients with heart-related conditions.
The Heart Station will not be complete without the presence of our very accommodating staff members who will try to ease out your tension while waiting for your turn. It also ably directed by our top Cardiologist who have been able to save lives from the one of the top killer in our country today.
The Heart Station offers the following services:
* Electrocardiography(ECG/EKG), the most widely use means of assessing heart disease.
* Treadmill (Stress Test), used for the diagnosis and evaluation of coronary artery disease as well as the evaluation of the overall cardiovascular fitness status of our patient.
* Two-dimensional Echocardiography and Doppler Studies (2D echo), equipped with High Definition Imaging. This examination is completely safe and staffed by highly-experienced Technologists and dedicated Cardiologists.

ELECTROCARDIOGRAM
An Electrocardiogram (ECG) is a test that records the electrical activity of the heart. ECG measures and diagnoses abnormal rhythms of the heart, particularly abnormal rhythms caused by damage to the conductive tissue that carries electrical signals or abnormal rhythms caused by electrolyte imbalances. In myocardial infarction, the ECG heart muscle has been damaged in specific areas, though not all areas of the heart are covered.
An ECG is a very useful tool for determining whether a person has heart disease. The doctor may order this test if the patient has chest pain or palpitations.
An ECG may be included as part of the routine examination in patient over age of 40.
ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY (2D ECHO)
Echocardiography is a test that uses sound waves to create images of the heart. An echocardiogram (often called “echo”) is a graphic outline of the heart’s movement. During an echocardiogram test, ultrasound (high-frequency sound waves) that comes from a hand-held wand placed on your chest is used to provide pictures of the heart’s valves and chambers. Echo is often combined with Doppler ultrasound and color Doppler to evaluate blood flow across the heart’s valves.
STRESS TEST
STRESS TEST is a screening tool to test the effect of exercise on heart. It provides an overall look at the health of the heart
Stress test is a test performed by a doctor and a trained technician to determine the amount of stress that the heart can manage before developing either an abnormal rhythm or evidence of ischemia (not enough blood flow to the heart muscle). The most commonly performed stress test is the exercise stress test.
The stress test is a test to provide information about how the heart responds to exertion. It usually involves walking on a treadmill at increasing levels of difficulty, while the electrocardiogram, heart rate and blood pressure are monitored.
